Hugh Jackman and Laura Dern will star in the new film "The Son", directed by Florian Zeller, the director of the popular Oscar-winning film "The Father", and adapted from the play of the same name he created. He also wrote the script with Christopher Hampton. Zeller's "Family Trilogy" has been adapted into two films. "The Father" explores the devastating impact of Alzheimer's disease on emotions, and "The Son" focuses on teenage depression. It tells the story of Peter (Jackman) and his new partner and newborn child. When his ex-wife Kate (Dunn) shows up with their adolescent, troubled and angry son Nicholas, everything becomes chaotic. Peter strives to be a better father and help his son with intimate family moments, but Nicholas's condition puts the family on a dangerous path and they must do everything they can to maintain the bond of unity.
