Philippe (Kad Merad) has worked in a post office in Provence in southern France for more than ten years. He feels depressed by the unchanging life and his unhappy wife Julie (Zoé Félix). In order to please his wife, Philippe pretends to be a disabled person and applies for a promotion to the Gold Coast in the south, but he is transferred to the small town of Bergues in the far north as the director. In the eyes of southerners, the climate there is cold and harsh, the people are vulgar, and they speak with an incomprehensible Ch'ti accent. It is a place comparable to hell. Frustrated, Philippe bids farewell to his family and goes to work alone with trepidation. However, unexpectedly, he finds that his new subordinates and local residents are very hospitable, and he soon makes friends with the postman Anthony (Dany Boon). Philip gradually fell in love with this simple and honest small town, but when he tried to persuade Julie to come to the north to live with him, he was questioned by his wife...
