The film takes place over a 24-hour period. Ben Burns, a charming but troubled man, returns to his unsuspecting family on a disastrous Christmas Eve. Holly Burns, her mother, cautiously but warmly welcomes her beloved son, but then discovers that he still has big problems. In the 24 hours that could change their lives, she has to do everything she can to prevent the family from falling apart. Vance will play Ben's stepfather, who has his own way of educating his children, which directly conflicts with Holly. Kathryn Newton plays Ivy Burns, a 17-year-old sister, a beautiful singer who loves her brother but doesn't believe he can become a better person. She doesn't like the impact he has on the family, but understands his importance to his mother and knows that she should help him get back on track.
