The drama is adapted from the manga of the same name by Iwaaki Hitoshi. It tells the story of a Buddhist college student, Minamimaru Yoji (played by Hosoda Kaota), who unexpectedly discovers that he has a seemingly useless superpower: he can make holes in any object. Minamimaru Yoji's friends always affectionately call him "Komaru", a harmless man. In his seemingly unchanging life, Minamimaru suddenly finds himself involved in a terrible disaster that could destroy the world, and only his seemingly useless superpower can help him overcome this crisis.
