The story takes place in the distant future. Shaddan IV (José Ferrer) is the king of the universe. He controls the entire empire with his own power and force. Despite his power, Shaddan IV still has no sense of security. He believes that his cousin, Duke Atreides (Jürgen Prochnow), is trying to usurp the throne, so he sends him to the distant planet Kaledan. Shaddan IV's persecution of Duke Atreides did not stop. In the end, the Duke was defeated and committed suicide, leaving his wife and son Paul (Kyle MacLachlan) displaced. The two fled to the vast desert and asked the local indigenous people for help. The indigenous people worshiped Paul as their savior. Paul eventually became the leader of the indigenous people and married a local woman named Jiani (Sean Young). However, the flame of revenge has never been extinguished in his heart.
